Seven Still Waters

Our Goal:

It is our goal this year to provide at least 100 scholarships to domestic and international children and teens from 3 to 15 years old. These scholarships will give them the opportunity to participate in something they find enjoyable such as music, theater, sports leagues, scouting, art, language and other educational activities. These $700 scholarships will be awarded to children most deserving. Once a child starts a program then they are with us for life. We are committed to helping them until they reach adulthood. Our emphasis is always on the quality of service not the numbers of children we serve.

These scholarships are broken down into 4 areas:

1. Education

2. Literature

3. Sports Leagues

4. Talents

Starting In Our Own Back Yard:

It is reported that 1 in 9 children in Utah are living in poverty. A child is born into poverty in Utah every hour. Studies have shown that children who are raised in poverty are less healthy, trail in emotional and intellectual development, and do not perform as well in school. Studies also reveal that those enrolled in high quality early childhood education programs are more likely to complete higher levels of education, have higher earnings, be in better health and be stable in relationships, and are less likely to commit a crime or be incarcerated. -Children's Defense Fund
Seven Still Waters is also concerned about children who suffer closer to home. The goal of our local program is to provide “at risk” children with an opportunity to get involved in an extracurricular activity that is of interest to them. Something that will give them the opportunity to discover talents leading them to positive paths of influence.

YWCA of Salt Lake City

YWCA is dedicated to eliminating
racism, empowering women and
promoting peace, justice, freedom
and dignity for all.

The YWCA is the oldest and largest multicultural women's organization in the world.

Across the globe, we have more than 25 million members in 106 countries, including 2.6 million members and participants in 300 local associations in the United States.

More important than the numbers, is our mission to eliminate racism and empower women. We provide safe places for women and girls, build strong women leaders, and advocate for women's rights and civil rights in Congress.

Women come to us in times of crisis, as survivors of rape or domestic violence. They come for job training and career counseling. They come for childcare. They come for health and fitness. They come for a variety of reasons. But they come. And they leave with a renewed spirit, new skills, and stronger lives.

Each local YWCA implements Hallmark Programs, although specific programs vary from one community to another based on the unique needs of each market. Our Hallmark Programs have direct impact and create meaningful change with measurable results. We not only intend to raise awareness of the issues, we intend to affect real change. Our goal is not to pave the way for the future. It is to create the future. A better future.
